The last year has shown that when you send New Democrats to Ottawa, we get results. Jagmeet and I will keep fighting for you.
Claire is an activist, community builder, volunteer, and professor of veterinary medicine at the University of Saskatchewan’s Western College of Veterinary Medicine. She’s fighting to make sure working families and future generations have the tools they need coming out of the pandemic.
Throughout the pandemic Claire saw young people and families in our community struggle. While Justin Trudeau helped Canada’s ultra-rich and big businesses make record profits – workers and small businesses fell behind. Inspired by the efforts of Jagmeet Singh and New Democrat to get help to people quickly, Claire is working to ensure Canada’s pandemic recovery delivers for you.
Claire knows that we can build a future where no one is left behind. She’s standing up to support students so they can start their careers on the right foot without thousands of dollars in crushing student debt. She is defending workers and local businesses that still need support during, and beyond, the pandemic. And she’ll make sure the recovery tackles the climate crisis with bold emission reduction targets and sustainable jobs.
Inspired by family members and individuals in our community, Claire has been a strong advocate for mental health awareness. She understands how difficult the pandemic was for people struggling with mental health challenges and addiction. She believes that it's time for Canada to expand Medicare to include mental health services, dental care, and prescription medication, so everyone can access lifesaving services, with their health card – not their credit card.
Always looking to make a difference at home and around the world, Claire has been instrumental in campaigns to support workers, save local libraries, expand Indigenous knowledge in university education, and bring awareness to the climate emergency. Claire volunteers with Veterinarians without Borders to build more resilient communities and support HIV AIDS affected families in Uganda. She’s proud to have worked with people from all walks of life to stand against racism, discrimination, and inequality and create positive change.
Claire is ready to stand up and get to work for you as your Member of Parliament in Saskatoon–University.
